Path of Least Resistance

He who lives in harmony with himself lives in harmony with the universe.  Marcus Aurelius

Nature does not hurry yet everything is accomplished. Lao Tzu

Nature always will choose the path of least resistance or effort. In yoga we learn to not muscle tuniversehrough a pose with force, we relax and surrender into the pose finding our energetic strength and softening around it. In life, we sometimes fight what comes easiest with the thought that if it comes easy, it’s not worthy, or not the best choice. That whatever has come your way, doesn’t look exactly the way you wanted it to, so you let it pass by.

Take three long deep breaths here…relax and surrender to the flow of the universe. Allow the universe to work for you. Accept people, and circumstances that come your way.  Let the universe work in your favor. Move towards what you want, but notice the opportunities that come.

Surrounded By Good

An old Cherokee Legend that says there’s a battle of two wolves inside us all. One wolf is evil. It is anger, jealousy, greed, arrogance, self pity, resentment, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego. The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, humility, kindness, generosity, truth, compassion. The wolf that wins? Is the one you feed.

I’m glad your reading my blog it’s a great way to feed the good wolf 😉  filling your mind with positive thoughts. Practicing Yoga, is another.  One of the distinct qualities of yoga is that it helps us to become more self aware. It gives us the opportunity for self study; bearing witness to our thoughts, feeling, emotions, and sensations in our bodies. After time and practice we begin to notice that we have moments where we are no longer just reacting to things, but bearing witness to those things as well and consciously responding, instead of mindlessly reacting. Helping us get clearer on what we value in our lives, like feeding our body, soul, and mind; with joy, love, peace, kindness, and all the good that we can surround ourselves with.

Strength with Peace

I’m halfway through my yoga teacher training. It’s become so much more than I ever thought it would be.  I’m reflecting on my journey, as I sit here in a semi meditative state after my yoga practice. There’s a powerful storm brewing.  Winds are picking up and I feel it’s force blow by me through the open windows in the usually calm space.  I see multiple flashes of lightning illuminating the dark sky, and hear the rain as it helps to enhance this meditative state that I’m in.

My instructor is always reminding us teacher trainees that we should always be at a place of Steadiness and Comfort in our yoga practice.  In my mind, for some reason, I’ve always replaced the words to Strength with Peace.  Today, with the powerful storm illuminating, my feelings of my newly gained strength, along with the steadiness and the comfort of my peace, seems magnified.  As if I am both stronger and softer at the same time.

It’s wonderful to feel the peace within, but it’s also wonderful when you can go to a place that helps you to expand. My training has seemed like a retreat.  A place where I get to go and honor myself.  Taking care of me, for my health, and my own personal development.

I hope, if your haven’t already, find your own place of steadiness and comfort.
