Mindfully Living In The Present

Living Mindfully – GoldilocksBlog.com

Mindfulness helps you go home to the present. And every time you go there and recognize a condition of happiness that you have, happiness comes. – Thich Nhat Hanh

When you mindfully move through out your day, you live with awareness. Aware of how you move and breathe. Aware, as if it’s your first day on earth. Become in awe of how it feels to walk, to wash your hands, to smile, to laugh. Amazed at the brilliant blue sky, the flowering weed, the trees, the cars, the sounds. Everything is brilliant! And every time you can bring yourself to this place of awareness. You realize how easy it is to recognize happiness in what you use to believe to be the ordinary.  There is no drama playing in your head, because your busy looking at the present, consistently, with new awareness.

Living in the past or present robs us of our time. We should bless the past with faith that the past is success, somehow working for our favor, with lessons and growth.

Then forget about it – It can not be changed.

Bless the future with a knowing that the world is somehow conspiring for your benefit – Believe.

Then forget about it.

Let it all go! Live in the flow and fully in the now, and get ready – expect to receive. Now is the accepted time, Now is the time to act in the present. Here is where you find happiness. Here is where you find peace.

So,…just a thought… maybe every time you wash your hands, let it be a reminder to come into the present. Notice the action of turning the water on and putting soap into your hand. Feel the water whether it’s warm or cold. Feel your hands rubbing together as the soap bubbles become larger and larger, allowing the velvety softness to caresses your hands. Feel it, and embrace it, from every perspective.  Allow yourself to mindfully begin living in the present.

Box of Love

There’s a lot of Love in that box. It’s filled with cookies, and cards, hot chocolate, a movie, personal notes, bath salts for mom, itunes cards for the children, and special nuts for the man of the house. The box is overflowing, not just with gifts, but with love. You can feel the love pouring out of it. You can feel the presence of the sender. It’s not the gifts, it the whole.
That’s the intention we should put into everything we do – Love. You can feel, see, and hear the difference between a blank hug, gift, or word, and those filled with Love. You feel it in places too; in your home, business, and even in your being. Be mindful of what energy you carry, and bring with you, wherever you go. Bring love, happiness, and joy. Do everything with love.

Mindfully Ignoring…

“Mindfulness is the energy of being aware and awake to the present moment. It is the continuous practice of touching life deeply in every moment. To be mindful is to be truly alive and at one with those around us. Practicing mindfulness does not require that we go anywhere different.”  –Thich Nhat Hanh

Sometime the energy that it takes for us to be mindful, get’s diverted when the actions of another are hurtful, in the present moment. Our minds begin to wonder to past hurts, and negative thinking.  The trick, I believe, is to learn to ignore a lot more.  May be ignore is the wrong word, may be it is better said; to stay in the present moment, but to choose not to give “it” any energy.  Leave the pettiness of the moment behind you. Don’t waste a minute on “it”. In fact, don’t give “it” another thought.   Stand taller, be a better person, and choose to give your mindful energy to something positive around you.

Just as I’m writing this the door bell rings, the dog starts barking, the kids are talking, music has been turned on, and all of a sudden, there really is just a whole lot going on… when a thought of wanting some quiet time for meditation, reflection, and just a chance to finish this blog post mindfully flash through. So starting over, I reread what I wrote, and see so clearly, that we really don’t have to go anywhere different.  Learning to ignore a lot more, does serve us in many situations. I guess “ignore” was the right word after all.

So I’m mindfully going to finish this blog post, in a happy state of mind.  Celebrating the fact that I’m lucky to be alive, I have time to write, a computer, the internet, and sooooooo much more.

So today and all days, use your energy to celebrating all that is good around you now, and ignore the rest!

Life just got a whole lot better…
