Calvin Borel-An Inspiration and Example to us all!

Calvin Borel who is best known as the jockey who won the Kentucky Derby on a horse, Mine That Bird, with a 50-1 shot of winning, is today attempting an unprecedented Triple Crown sweep on two different horses.   Go Calvin Go!

I however am writing about him today because of the inspiration and example of how we can learn from him, and how we should all live our lives.  I am not saying that we should all drop out of school or become jockeys, but I am talking about following our passions.  Of living the life that we want and finding what brings us joy.   Calvin knew at a very early age that all he ever wanted was to be a jockey.   He began riding races at the age of 8, and then professionally at the age of 16.  He is known for his strong work ethic and his eagerness to help when asked. He has worked long and hard and has done so with a passion of doing what he loves.

Calvin proves my point that if we all follow our dreams, and stay true to ourselves, that we will all not choose the same path, or want the same things. But if we truly know what we want, and do whatever it takes to get there with enthusiasm, hard work, and passion, we can have the life that we want.

Peace

Peace is a state of tranquility, serenity, and harmony.  This blog is a reminder to remember that when our life is making us feel a little frantic or anxious, that this state of being, peace, is already within us. Imagine that you are standing in the middle of the most beautiful place.  With the most beautiful flowers, trees, birds, and sky… but your eyes are closed tight.  That is how we live our lives sometime.  Stuck in our own little world, our own little reality, not noticing what is around us. When all we need to do is to open our eyes, and to look around, and see and all the beauty that is here now.  That the peace that we seek is here now, if we just realize it, and open up to it.

Happiness!

We often spend a lifetime searching for happiness.  We chase dreams, people, places, religion, money, and addictions, in the hope of filling the void that is within us.   We believe that if can get this or have that, then and only then, will we be happy.

The problem is that we tend to make this our state of mind of how we always think, always searching, and always pursuing happiness.  We need to shift our thinking and to just simply be happy.  Do not put it in the future, in the attainment of certain goals or objects, but in the everyday doing of whatever it is that we are doing.

You see it is not the circumstances that make us happy, but our outlook that does.  Our minds can make a good situation seem bad, and bad situations seem good!

So I believe that happiness is acknowledging and appreciating what we have… and the thoughts of gratitude, that is happiness!  So if we truly appreciate what we do have, the thoughts fill up that emptyness, and brings us the inner peace that we are looking for!  So again simply… be happy now!
