Days of our Lives

“Like sands through the hourglass, so are the days of our lives.” From opening of soap opera Days of our Lives

The best days of our life, are the ones we have, right here, right now.  Soap operas are being cancelled after 40 years, stores are being closed, and industries are vanishing.  Like the sands in the hourglass, our lives keep changing. Half of the hourglass/life is trickling away, while the other half is building and growing. If we evolve and adapt to what’s new in our life, we keep living a full life.  If we stand still, like the hour glass, after time, it stops,…no growth, no fun, no life, nothing.

So truly live each day, and embrace all it has to offer.  These are the best days of our lives, cuz, it’s where we are right now. So LIVE it…

Good Luck – Bad Luck

I’ve always had good luck on Friday the 13th.  Maybe it started with me not having any bad luck, and then it parlayed into me always expecting a good day. I don’t really remember, but I do know that today was another great day! I had lots of errands and appointments, but everywhere I went, I found great parking spaces, I arrived on time, I had great service, and everyone was more than nice to me.  Which got me thinking about Luck…. Are we just Lucky when good things happen? And, how do we know if a seemingly unlucky event is not lucky?  What if that seemingly unlucky event prevents something worse from happening, or opens the door for us to go in a different direction, which leads us towards something better.  And, what if we lived our lives believing that it did, then wouldn’t everyday be Lucky?

I LOVE rainy days…

The best thing one can do when it’s raining is to let it rain.  ~Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

I’m taking a few days off to relax and rejuvenate.  I’m on the East Coast of Florida… and it’s raining. When you take a trip to the beach you think of days and days of sunshine – bright – happy, fun, sun filled days.  Then the unexpected rain storm comes, with a forecast of showers for the next five days. Panic or sadness may start to set in, because its not what you expected – life it like that, disappointed in not getting what you want. The reality is, that what you have instead, may be better, or at least, a different kind of good. For instance, on this rainy day at the beach; I didn’t have to worry about getting a sun burn. I walked endlessly without ever becoming over heated. And, the beach seemed to be my own private sanctuary, in an area of towering buildings.

On this walk, in the quiet of my own private beach 😉 I tilted my face to the sky, and drank in a deep breath of fresh saltwater air. I took a moment to feel the tiny drops of cool rain.  I felt so alive,  calm, peaceful, and yet invigorated by the moment.  It was just the result I was hoping for, from my time on the beach.

“I am sure it is a great mistake always to know enough to go in when it rains.  One may keep snug and dry by such knowledge, but one misses a world of loveliness.” ~Adeline Knapp

Every day has its beauty – find the loveliness of your world…
